Higher education in Oman tends to preserve, polish and develop local culture, maintain community ideals and values, while at the same time spreading knowledge through technological and scientific education. Amazingly, there are 20 universities in this small country; 16 are public universities, while 4 are private and 11 colleges. About 37% of her population is having higher education, with around 20,000 international students. Fresh graduates are encouraged to look for jobs in their schools, ministries, tourism sector, hospitals, engineering and oil sector. Foreign students may be asked to provide evidence of work permit. However, internship programs and practicum are for every student.
