It is known that Iceland is land of fire and ice, mysteries, legends and natural wonders as geysers. 4 public and 3 private nationally accredited universities and colleges provide education. Most of them have programs fully or partially taught in English. State universities don’t charge any tuition; however, private schools set fees by themselves and they are generally higher for those who are non-EU citizens. It is possible to apply for grants and scholarships offered by the Icelandic Ministry of Education, Science and Culture and by other individual institutions. The amount of foreigners studying at tertiary institutions is approximately 5.8% what is still below OECD average.
