The University of Heidelberg in Heidelberg, Germany is the oldest college in the country. More than 30,000 students call this college home. They study in courses including Physics, Genetics, Sociology and Psychiatry.

The school was founded in 1386 during the reign of the Holy Roman Empire. It grew rapidly and had over 180 students by 1390. Heidelberg was the scene for many liberal movements, and their law school was quite influential. Under the Third Reich, the university supported the Nazi regime, and they were “denazified” after the end of World War II.
