There are minimal scholarship slots available for foreign students coming to Canada from abroad, although some institutions provide scholarships based on one’s academic excellence. If you are schooling here, you can ask your student advisor to see if there is any available one. Keep in mind that these awards and scholarships do not cover all the students cost of study.

Canada is safe and remains one of the most decent countries where you can live and work. It is a multicultural society where you can meet so many people from all walks of life. Benefits of studying in Canada are multiple; besides living and working here, you will have the rare privilege of learning a new language, because Canada has two official languages; English and French. Most of the colleges and institutes in Canada have outstanding facilities and latest technologies for students. United Nations says that Canada is the safest place a student can live and work.

Procedure to Apply for a Scholarship

When you are applying for a scholarship, you must as a matter of necessity keep the following documents ready:

  • Letter of attestation or recommendation: Usually, this can be given by your college / school teachers. Your sponsors will need this, to be able to access your strengths and weaknesses from a third party. Ensure that the person you approach knows much about you, and can say good things about your personality.
  • Transcripts: This is a documentary of your academic records, grades, lists of courses you took in schools, awards or degrees received. You can get them from the institution you attended.
  • Personal Statement: Here, you are expected to come up with a good essay about yourself. It will increase your chance of being selected among many that might be interested in the scheme.

Interview

The scholarship committee may decide to interview you, so that they can access your level of intelligence, skills and strengths. Make sure that whatever you say reflects what you wrote in your personal essay.  Some people have the erroneous view that academic matters, unfortunately, some sponsors are mainly looking at your talents and extracurricular activities. Kindly share all these with them.
